The Valencia GP delivered a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 MotoGP season, with Alex Marquez taking the spotlight in a dramatic sprint race. But did he really dominate?
Alex Marquez, riding for Gresini, secured a commanding win in the final sprint, leaving polesitter Marco Bezzecchi in the dust. Marquez and Acosta had a significant gap at the front, but their previous epic duel at Portimao didn't repeat itself. By lap 6 of 12, Marquez had pulled away with a lead of over a second. The 29-year-old cruised to victory, with his world champion brother, Marc Marquez, watching from the pits after returning from his Indonesia crash. Acosta's second-place finish allowed him to leapfrog Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia in the riders' standings.
Meanwhile, VR46's di Giannantonio secured the final podium spot, passing Raul Fernandez with just three laps to go after a race-long battle. Fernandez held off a recovering Bezzecchi to finish fourth as the top Aprilia rider. Honda's struggles continued as Joan Mir and Luca Marini crashed out, leaving Johann Zarco as their best finisher in 10th.
The race had its fair share of incidents, with Jack Miller and Fermin Aldeguer colliding on lap three, resulting in a long-lap penalty for Miller. Two-time MotoGP champion Bagnaia had a tough race, finishing 14th, while Jorge Martin's comeback ended in 22nd after running wide to avoid Zarco.
The final sprint race results showcase the intense competition, with Marquez taking the top spot, followed by Acosta and di Giannantonio. The championship point went to Trackhouse rookie Ai Ogura, highlighting the depth of talent in the field.
