In the early PS5 era, Sony lined up partnerships with several third-party studios to publish their new projects. One notable collaboration was with Deviation Games, but that title ultimately never shipped and was cancelled early in 2024. Recently, leaked gameplay footage from the project has surfaced online, giving a rare glimpse into what might have been.
Two gameplay videos, totaling over ten minutes, were released on YouTube after being shared by Dusk Golem. The game carried the working name “Draconis,” and insiders who track PS5 rumors had long referred to it as the so-called “ooze game,” due to its heavy emphasis on ooze-themed visuals and mechanics. According to Dusk Golem, what was being developed at Deviation Games did not evolve into anything else and has been completely scrapped as a full-on cancellation.
The leaked footage appears to come from an early build of a third-person shooter. Official confirmation arrived in March 2024: Deviation Games had been shut down, and its highly anticipated debut title had never been publicly revealed. The 2021 announcement had described the collaboration as a partnership to create a brand-new original IP, but that project never reached the publicly shown stage.
Although the cancellation means the game won’t see release, the online clips offer a rare window into the direction Deviation Games was exploring. Earlier in 2025, some concept art from the project also surfaced, adding another layer to the story of what might have been.
While the footage clearly represents an early build, what are your thoughts on Draconis and its concept? Share your opinions in the comments below.
