A survey exploring Guernsey residents’ reading habits has been launched as part of a broader campaign. The initiative aligns with the National Year of Reading, an effort spearheaded by the UK government and the National Literacy Trust, which aims to boost reading activity across 2026. Local findings are intended to inform future plans and activities throughout the year.
The Guille-Allès library, in collaboration with the Guernsey Literary Festival Bright Beginnings, Guernsey Arts, and the States of Guernsey, has initiated surveys to gather data on how people on the island read and interact with books.
Islanders are invited to complete the first survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7TZVL2V) before 8 January. The collected responses will help researchers understand adults’ reading patterns and engagement with literature, according to the States.
Related information and context will be shared as the project progresses.
