Are you ready to experience wellness like never before? Sant Roch is set to revolutionize the way Parisians unwind, offering a unique blend of ancient rituals and modern luxury in the heart of the city. But here's where it gets intriguing: this isn’t your typical spa—it’s a social, immersive journey into contrast therapy, a practice that alternates between heat and cold to rejuvenate both body and mind. And this is the part most people miss—it’s not just about relaxation; it’s about creating a community-driven experience inspired by the Roman baths of Lutetia.
Opening its doors on March 2, Sant Roch spans 2,150 square feet across two levels, just a stone’s throw from the Tuileries Gardens. Boldly claiming the title of France’s first contrast therapy venue, it boasts the country’s largest sauna, a sprawling 645-square-foot space designed to accommodate up to 35 people. But what truly sets Sant Roch apart is its commitment to a multisensory, communal experience. Imagine lounging on textured leather benches in a dimly lit, elegant setting, where guides perform rituals like towel waving to intensify the heat or tossing aromatherapy-infused snowballs onto the fire. It’s a fusion of art, wellness, and social interaction that’s as unconventional as it is captivating.
Co-founders and co-CEOs Chloé and Jules Bouscatel, the minds behind the successful Monday Sports Club, are no strangers to innovation. With over 20 fitness studios in Paris and a revenue of 15 million euros last year, they’ve now turned their attention to stress regulation. ‘When we discovered contrast therapy, we were amazed by its effects on our bodies,’ Chloé shared. ‘It’s like being in a state of blissful intoxication—without the alcohol.’ This realization sparked the creation of Sant Roch, a space where they aim to seamlessly integrate wellness into people’s weekly routines.
The venue’s design is a nod to its history, with original 1930s flooring in the women’s changing room and a glassed-in ceiling that harkens back to the hotel that once stood there. The ground-floor hallway, adorned with a stone fountain and terracotta tiles, exudes an air of timeless elegance. But Sant Roch isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a ‘safe place’ where guests can unwind and connect. ‘We want this to be an experience without friction,’ Chloé explained.
Visitors can choose between self-guided sessions or those led by practitioners trained in the ‘Sant Roch method,’ which includes breathwork, sound immersion, meditation, self-massage with gua shas, and embodied movement. For an energizing contrast, five stainless steel plunge basins filled with water ranging from 37 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit are available nearby. But here’s the controversial part: is contrast therapy just a trendy fad, or does it truly deliver on its promise of physical and mental reset? Chloé believes the latter, emphasizing its ability to induce a unique state of relaxation that’s perfect for social gatherings.
With artistic direction by Olivier Léone and architecture by Futurestudio’s Ali McQuaid Mitchell, Sant Roch is as much a work of art as it is a wellness destination. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., sessions start at 45 euros for 75 minutes, with membership options ranging from one entry per month to unlimited access for 180 euros. Projected to generate 2 million euros in its first year, Sant Roch has already secured 1.5 million euros in funding from over 70 investors.
But here’s the bigger question: Can Sant Roch’s ambitious plan to expand to 10 major European cities by 2030 redefine wellness on a global scale? Or is it just a high-end niche experience? We’d love to hear your thoughts—do you think contrast therapy is the future of relaxation, or is it just another passing trend? Let us know in the comments!
